Napping has long been seen as lazy or indulgent. But Dr. Omar Weston, a behavioral sleep specialist at the National Institute of Fatigue Science, is proving otherwise. His Strategic Nap Protocol is helping shift naps from personal habit to clinical prescription—particularly for shift workers, new parents, and high-stress professionals.

Naps as Recovery Microdoses
“Naps can restore alertness, improve memory consolidation, and lower blood pressure—all in under 20 minutes,” says Dr. Weston. His protocol differentiates between recovery naps, performance naps, and REM boosters, each tailored to individual needs.

Validated by Research
In a 2024 study of ER doctors using Weston’s method, participants saw a 39% drop in decision-making errors and a 22% increase in mood scores after implementing strategic napping.

Sleep in a Stressed-Out World
